Power Distribution for Marquees and Festivals

We can supply temporary power connections of any size for events of any size.  Whether you need just a connection for a small family gathering or for an outside event of several thousand people, we are here to help.  We can supply distribution cabling, temporary distribution boards and consumer units, end-point outlets, internal lighting, external flood lighting, architectural lighting and even generators of any size and flavour.

Because we carry this equipment in our own stock, and use our own engineering teams then we can normally beat the price of power distribution that might otherwise be supplied by a marquee company or equipment hire firm.  Click here to ask for a custom quote, you might be surprised!

Please contact us to discuss your requirements, we will be happy to put together a custom quote to fit your requirements perfectly, or choose from one of our pre-built options below.  These packages do not include the hire of a generator, they are designed for connection into your existing domestic or commercial electricity supply.  If you need a generator because you are too far away from a fixed supply then we can supply any size of generator too, please see below for more generator information or click here.

13Amp Power Package – £35.00 + VAT

(delivered with your DJ or collected from our offices in Sidmouth or Hire Desk in Exeter)

The 13Amp kit is suitable for very small outdoor events that don’t use much power but still requires a safe reliable supply. 13amps total load is enough for our Bronze Package if you are happy to leave out the strobe lighting.  This kit doesn’t need to be installed by an electrician because it plugs into a 13a domestic socket on your ring main, and has a length of cable to reach your outside event within 50m of the supply.  This is essentially a big extension lead with RCD protection and a double socket, but is made from very high quality cable which will not overheat when you get near to the maximum load of 13a.  Please note that if you collect this from our office or hire desk then normal dry-hire terms apply, so you will need to supply a Debit or Credit Card, photo ID and a utility bill which matches the address registered on your payment card, this does not apply if the booked along with one of our DJs as they will bring the equipment with them for you.

  • 13a domestic plug to 16a socket adapter
  • Up to 50m of 16a power cable
  • 1 x 16a to twin 13a domestic outlets
  • All outlets protected by RCD or RCBO Protection
  • Equipment to be collected and returned from our offices in Sidmouth or Hire Desk in Exeter
  • Theoretical risk assessment performed off-site

20Amp Power Package – £100.00 + VAT (guideline price)

The 20Amp kit is suitable for small events.  20amps total load is enough to run our Bronze or Silver DJ and Disco system if you are happy to leave out the power strobe light, with a little power left to run a Mobile Bar or some lighting in your marquee.  We can connect this system into your existing electrics as long as your event is within 50 meters of your consumer unit or a socket on your domestic ring main. If you are too far from the nearest electricity supply then this system can be connected to a suitable 6KVA generator.  This system is not suitable if you intend to run water boilers or hot cupboards in your catering kitchen or lavatory trailers with water heaters.

  • 20a PowerCon tail for connection into your existing consumer unit or ring-main outlet (work carried out by our professional event electrician)
  • 20a RCD/RCBO interrupter to prevent damage to ring-main

  • Power distribution map drawn and left near to board

Please note that we may substitute 20a PowerCon cables for 32a Ceeform in some instances. If we use a ring-main outlet for this connection then that socket will not be available for use while the distribution cable is connected and you may need to control the use of other appliances on the rest of that ring main to prevent overloading that circuit, this does not apply if we can connect into your consumer unit or a commercial distribution board.  We may need to turn off your ring main or electricity supply while the connection is made.

Lighting

We can supply chandelier lighting fixtures for the centre of your venue, and up-lighters for around the edge of your venue, either in white, coloured, or computer controlled colour changing. We can also supply florescent, halogen or discharge fixtures for catering areas or IP rated flood lighting for outside areas. Generally its better and cheaper to get your marquee supplier to install chandelier and high-level lighting when they assemble the tent, leaving 16a connectors for us to join to, but if you need temporary lighting in a barn or other structure then please get in touch for a quote.

Emergency Lighting

If you are planning a public event (an event that isnt invite-only or where you sell tickets or charge for entrance) then you will need to have formal fire escapes and follow HSE event guidelines, such as the provision of fire extinguishers and emergency lighting.  External walkways and escape routes should be fully lit and maintained so that the lighting remains lit in the event of a power failure. You must also mark your fire exits with maintained exit signs (this means they must have battery backup to remain lit if there is a power failure.)  We stock all types of maintained and non-maintained bulkhead and Exit lighting from £8 + VAT per unit dry-hire.

Additional Options

Any of the systems above can be connected to commercial power outlets using Ceeform connectors, we will supply all required adapters and cables, just let us know what you have at your venue. We will need to know if you have a single or three phase connection and the size of the socket and number of connectors.  If you are just outside the ranges specified above then please give us a call because there may be ways to extend the range.

Generators

If you are not within range of a fixed electricity supply then we can supply generators to provide temporary power.  We don’t keep generators in-stock becasue of the high value and maintenance costs, but we sub-hire from the UKs leading generator supplier to ensure that we always use well serviced sets.  Our trade accounts and volume rates mean that we can supply Generator sets at very competitive prices. We always supply generators in pairs to guard against mechanical failure. We can normally supply generators with distribution cabling at prices significantly less than your marquee supplier so please ask for quote.

Don’t worry if you are not in East Devon, we operate across the South West and nationally and even after we factor our transport costs into your quote we’re sure that it will still give you good savings compared to your marquee supplier.  To help you calculate: we add 45p + VAT per mile for the entire journey, so if your event is 60 miles outside Exeter then we would make two journeys to and from your site (one return journey to deliver and install, and one return journey to remove the equipment.)  The first 20 miles are included in the package price, so we would charge you for the remaining 40 miles times 4, so 120 miles times 45p + VAT = £54 + VAT travel costs.  Additional delivery costs may apply if we are also supplying generators as this may involve several tons of equipment, but please ask for a quote.
